ICORE 11-17-07

What a beautiful day to be on the range today. It started out a little chilly, but by the second stage we were peeling out of our jackets and enjoying the sunshine. We ended the '07 ICORE year out with a very nice match. It was the POSTAL MATCH and two good classifiers.

This was the last ICORE match for this year. Next year in 2008 we will resume ICORE on the 3rd Saturday of the month starting in MARCH and ending in NOVEMBER. Somewhere along the way we are thinking about doing a State Level match, but we need to evaluate a couple of things before we can pull this off.

Aside from ICORE, I am wanting to do a couple of special matches. One will be the DEER RIFLE MATCH, like we have had in the past. Thinking about doing this in February. It would involve Centerfire Deer Rifles and 22 Squirrel rifles. The intent for this match to have fun with common hunting rifles. Preferably keeping match and competition rifles out this one. Hopefully it would appeal to a wider base of folks.

Secondly, maybe next fall (September or Oct) a Masters type match. This match would involve centerfire and rimfire. There would be a long range 25, 50, 75, & 100 event. A PPC event, speed steel, and action pistol.  Not real sure about details yet.  So, I would like to here some feedback on what the CSRA shooters think of a match of this type and how they would like to see it done. Some things I was thinking about were only one centerfire gun and one rimfire gun can be used for the whole event. That way it will not be an equipment race or a need for specialty guns, etc.
